Community Guidelines

Opinionly exists to help people grow through honest, anonymous feedback from the people who know them. That only works when the community stays kind, constructive, and safe. These Community Guidelines explain the standards every member agrees to. They are part of, and incorporated into, our Terms of Service and End-User License Agreement — by using Opinionly you agree to follow them.

What Opinionly is for

• Giving thoughtful, specific feedback that helps someone improve.
• Receiving feedback with an open mind, even when it is hard to hear.
• Building a supportive culture where honesty and respect go together.

What we encourage

• Be constructive. Focus on behavior and growth, not personal attacks.
• Be honest, but kind. Anonymity is a tool for candor, not cruelty.
• Be specific. Useful feedback points to real examples and actionable change.
• Assume good intent. Most people are here to help and to grow.

What is not allowed

We have zero tolerance for objectionable content and abusive behavior. You may not submit, post, or share content that:

• Is obscene, lewd, lascivious, filthy, violent, harassing, libelous, slanderous, or otherwise objectionable.
• Ridicules, mocks, disparages, intimidates, bullies, or abuses any person.
• Harasses or threatens any person, or promotes violence against a person or group.
• Includes hateful or discriminatory remarks connected to race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, age, or any protected characteristic.
• Sexually exploits or endangers minors in any way, or otherwise violates laws protecting the health or well-being of minors.
• Violates the privacy or publicity rights of any third party, or discloses someone's private information.
• Is false, inaccurate, or deliberately misleading, or impersonates another person.
• Is unsolicited advertising, spam, promotional material, or any form of solicitation.
• Violates any applicable law, regulation, or rule, or links to material that does.

You also may not try to find out who wrote something posted anonymously, or help anyone else do so. Anonymity is a promise Opinionly makes to every member — attempting to break it for someone else is a violation of these Guidelines and our Terms of Service.

How content is checked

Content on Opinionly may be checked automatically before it appears, as described in our Privacy Policy. Automated checks are not perfect — reporting is how you tell us when something got through.

Reporting and blocking

If you see content that violates these Guidelines, or you want to stop interacting with someone, you can act directly in the app:

• Report content — any post, comment, or feedback you can see — so our team can review it.
• Block someone to stop them from interacting with you. You can block the author of anonymous content too, without being told who they are.

Reports are confidential. You will never be required to confront the person you are reporting, and the person you report is not told who reported them.

How we enforce these Guidelines

We review every report. When content violates these Guidelines, we will remove the violating content and may eject the responsible user — typically within 24 hours of a report. Depending on severity, consequences may include a warning, removal of content, suspension, or permanent termination of access, at our discretion and without notice. Serious violations, such as content that endangers minors or threatens violence, may be reported to law enforcement.
